Connecting a Page for Marketing

Admin feature

Before you can run a campaign, each Facebook Page needs a separate marketing authorization from Meta, on top of the messaging connection it already has. This article covers granting that marketing access from the Marketing & Conversion page — including the case where the Page has to reconnect for messaging first.

Do these first

This only works once you have finished the following:

  1. 1

Connecting Facebook Pages: The Page must be connected for messaging first; the marketing authorization is an extra grant on top of it.

Start from Marketing & Conversion

Open Messaging (Chat) → Marketing & Conversion in the sidebar. Pages that are already authorized sit under “Connected for Marketing”; the rest show “Not authorized for Marketing yet” with a Connect Marketing button. You only authorize each Page once.

Marketing & Conversion lists your Pages, split into “Connected for Marketing” and “Not connected for Marketing”.

Two situations before you authorize

What you do at “Connect Marketing” depends on the Page’s current messaging connection.

  • Page connected for messaging — click Connect Marketing straight away to open the Meta authorization flow described below.
  • Page needs to reauthreconnect the channel for messaging first, then come back here and click Connect Marketing. The marketing grant builds on the messaging connection, so if that session has expired the marketing step cannot finish.

Note: Signs a Page needs reconnecting: it shows “Disconnected” under Channels, or Connect Marketing errors out or bounces straight back. Fix it under Channels → Reconnect for that Page (your history is untouched), then run the marketing authorization again.

Authorize marketing through Meta

After you click Connect Marketing, Meta opens its own authorization window. Work through these screens in order — most are just confirm-and-continue.

  1. 1

Confirm your Facebook account, then click Continue.

Because you already linked Repio before, Meta asks “Continue as …?”. If that is not you, choose “Log into another account”; to revisit the scope, click “Edit settings”.

  2. 2

Select “Opt in to current Pages only”, then tick the exact Page you are authorizing for marketing.

Tick the Page that matches the row whose Connect Marketing you clicked, then click Continue.

  3. 3

Choose the Business Portfolio that owns the Page, then click Continue.

This is the Meta business profile that holds the Page and its ad accounts. If you have none, Meta offers to create one right there (free).

  4. 4

Confirm the Page and choose an ad account, then click Continue.

For marketing this screen matters: campaigns are billed to the ad account you pick here, and that account also decides which uploaded customer lists (Custom Audiences) can run. Unlike plain messaging, you do not skip it.

  5. 5

Review “Grow your messaging customer base”, then click Continue.

The two toggles let Meta invite people to opt in to your marketing messages. Leaving them on grows your subscriber list automatically; you can fine-tune the invite later in the Grow tab.

  6. 6

On the “Review … access request” screen, leave every permission on and click Save.

The list includes “Send marketing messages in Messenger”, managing ads and stats. Turning any off can leave campaigns unable to send or missing insights — leave them all on.

  7. 7

Click Got it to close the Meta confirmation window.

Meta says “… has been connected to Repio”. Click it so Meta finishes the grant and syncs back to Repio.

Note: Meta’s button labels and layout follow your Facebook account language and change over time. Keep going with “agree and continue” until the final confirmation screen.

Done

Back in Repio, the Page you just authorized moves up to Connected for Marketing; click it to open its marketing workspace. You can now set up Marketing Messages: build the subscriber list, write a template and create a campaign.

The Page moves up to “Connected for Marketing”, shown as Connected (Marketing).

Tip: Authorizing several Pages? Repeat the flow for each one under “Not connected for Marketing” — each Page is authorized independently.
